The Authoring Environment is continuously checking the course for warnings, errors and blockers. Course structure issues will appear in the upper right of the screen next to the wrench icon and save button. If they appear, click on the red and orange numbers to reveal the warnings and/or blockers.
Red numbers represent blockers, structure issues that must be resolved before you can continue to work on the course. Orange numbers represent warnings, structure issues that might need to be resolved, but won’t interfere with launching the course as is.
After authoring your course, specific content issues, if any, will be highlighted in your Checklist. To view the Checklist, click the wrench icon and select “Checklist / Pre-Publish”.
After you select “Checklist/Pre-Publish” a panel will open on the left which will display the count of “Warnings”, “Errors” and “Blockers” your course content has. You’ll also see a full list of those items so you can easily resolve them.
- Warnings: Minor errors; does not prevent a course from launching
- Errors: Errors that could have a wider impact such as on reporting and outcomes; does not prevent a course from launching
- Blockers: Errors that will block the activity from launching
If there are no blockers for the course, click the “Pre-Publish” button for a course preview. You also have the option to invite others to review the course once it is pre-published.
