Course Components

Components are the sections that make up your course. Although some components are required for a course to be published, you have many additional options to choose from to engage learners:

Freeform – Add a variety of content types to a course that can include text, charts, slides, graphics, photos, video or audio clips. You have the option of including faculty banners above the commentary, if desired.

Patient Chart – Present information about a patient (i.e., the Medical Record), including a patient image and a chief complaint. This component includes a banner at the top of the page displaying a patient biometric data (age, weight, height).

Faculty Discussion – Add discussions/debates between two or more contributors to a course. One contributor poses questions and the other contributors respond to it.

Live Web Meeting – Schedule a live web meeting within the course and invite learners to attend.

Learner Feedback – Allows the learner to provide feedback and rate a course.

References  Presents a master list of all references that appear in a course (in alphabetical order).

Scored Question – Poses either multiple-choice or true/false questions to a learner where a correct answer designated, along with commentary. Scored questions can be placed anywhere within the course content.

Non-Scored Question – Poses either multiple choice, true/false, likert-5, checkbox (select all that apply), or long fill-in question(s) to the learner. There is no correct answer or commentary for this question type as it is self-reported by the learner.

Reflection Point – Allows learners to create a personal note in a course, and a copy will be emailed to them.

Prioritization Exercise – Presents learner with a list of actions or considerations to select those of highest importance. Learners are then presented with commentary and the level of importance (high, moderate, or low) for each of their selections on the subsequent pages. Applications for this section include patient work-ups, management options, etc. After completing this section, a summary page presents a learner with abbreviated titles/commentaries of ALL the actions or considerations.

Multi-Dimensional Question – Presents learners with information followed by a series of statements to categorize into two columns. The column header names are customizable (i.e., Best Practice/Not Best Practice; Agree/Disagree).

Matching Question – Asks learners to match items in column A with responses in column B. Learners drag the circled letters to the appropriate responses.

Q/E Review – Allows the learner to view the results of the previous exercise, including response distribution.

Pre Test – Add multiple choice or true/false Pre Test question(s) to the course.

Pre Test Score – Allows the learner to view the score they obtained at the Pre Test (but not the correct answers to each question). This component also presents the learners with average and median scores.

Post Test – Add multiple choice or true/false Post Test question(s) to the course.

Pre/Post Review – Allows the learner to view the correct responses to Pre and Post Test questions, along with response distributions. You also have the option to show response distributions and show paired Pre and Post Test questions side by side.

Evaluation – Presents post-course assessment questions to the learner.

Certification – Allows a learner to claim credit earned for completing a course.
